One of the biggest questions I get asked for couples sessions is, “what if it rains?” Here’s my short answer: then we get wet!
If a photographer told me that without giving a vision, I would have a hard time trusting them. This summer, I had a goal to finally back that up with some magic. How hard could it be to plan a rainy shoot in Alabama? Actually, the rain and my schedule were conflicted.
So we pulled out the hose!
Dylan and Callie loved hearing my vision for their couples session and jumped at the idea to do something different for their couples session. We had such a blast with music playing, the hose running, and jumping around in the mud. This is exactly what I want my clients to feel during our time together: like we can be children again!
Now if this is something you as a client were not interested in doing whatsoever, I get that. I want you to be happy with your investment! This is an example of what it could look like without the stress of rescheduling in your preferred time frame. Or, if you wanted something different in general.
For couples sessions and engagements sessions, I like to offer up to two different locations to get some variety. You could do a [dry] shoot in a grassy field, then hey, jump in a lake afterwards!
Your session does not have to look like everyone else’s. Don’t be afraid to try something completely different. You never know how magical it could be!
